For many years, I have read Matt 11:30, but did not really understand the magnitude of its meaning until recently. It says, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

When I did a little research and investigated the meaning of some of the key words (it’s a short verse, so there are not many words to choose from) But, anyway, there were 4 things that I learned. A yoke represents a burden, and the word “easy” can be replaced with well-fitted or eternally useful. And, although a yoke can represent a burden. A burden is interrupted as a heavy load that can not be shifted to someone else. And, finally, the word “light” in the scripture means easy to bear.

So, now if I look at the verse with fresh eyes, it would read: Jesus’ burden was well-fitted and eternally useful so that what can not be shifted to anyone else is easy to bear.

I don’t know about you, but I am over here dancing and shouting. Did you read that? You should read that again slowly. Hallelujah! But, God! In His Word it says that the burden that He bore on the cross was well-fitted and eternally useful for us. FOR US. He died and took on all our pain, our shame, our struggles, our suffering, our grief, our sins, and He wore it well. He did that for us. This is why I get so excited when I hear that worship song by Michael W. Smith, Surrounded. I get happy down on the inside. But, on the outside, I am weeping mess.  I get the can’t help-its. Because of what He did, we win. Do you know what that means? The battle that you are fighting is not yours. The battle is the Lord’s. And, that day on calvary’s old rugged cross, He paid it all! And, on the third day He rose, with all power in His Hand. Yessssss!

It may look like I'm surrounded

But I'm surrounded by You

This is how I fight my battles

I fight my battles on my knees, surrendering it all to Him, and leaving it at His feet! I’m walking in my healing! I woke up in my right mind, and it may be with a slight limp, but I have the use of my limbs. And, God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. To Him I give all the praise! How did you wake up this morning?

Lord, we thank you for the yoke that you bear for our sins and the victory that is won because of you. Lord, break our hearts for what breaks yours, and allow us to chase after Your heart every moment. In Your Son’s Name, we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.
