I am “that person” that looks at every picture of me and can spot something not quite right, immediately. And, if it is a series of pictures, I have my own pity party when I can not find one that seems to capture the moment “perfectly”. It’s insane. But, recently, I realized something. In God’s eyes, every picture is perfect because we were created in His Image. In 2 Corinthians, chapter 12, He tells us that His grace is sufficient because in our weakness, His power is perfected.
It is all a matter of perspective. Perspective much like the camera that was used to take the photo, only this time with a panoramic view. As you look through the lens, you see a wide landscape – from one angle to the next. Our perspectives influence everything – our attitudes, our mindset, our viewpoint, our outlook, and our beliefs.
Honestly, I need this reminder daily (sometimes hourly). It is easy to go through life seeing the world one way, and forgetting the toughest challenges can be a set up for the greatest blessings. It is all a matter of perspective.
So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever. 2 Cor. 4:16-18 (The Message Bible)
Father God, we praise you for your goodness, and thank you for your mercy. Lord, use our eyes to see things from Your perspective. Use our hands to do your work, and move our feet to line up with purpose. Lord, allow our thoughts to be honoring and pleasing to you. Lord, in Your Name. Have Your Way. Amen.
